Every child who enters foster care does so in a moment of crisis. Often, they come with very little—sometimes nothing at all.

At Family Room, we believe no child should go even one day without the basic necessities, and no foster parent should carry that burden alone.

That’s why we ask our community to host donation drives.

When our shelves are stocked with clothing, shoes, diapers, hygiene items, and more, we can respond immediately—day or night—to a child entering a new foster home. These donations meet urgent physical needs, but they also do something deeper: they help a child feel seen, valued, and cared for in a moment of deep uncertainty.

We believe emotional care matters just as much as physical care. That’s why we ask that all donated items be new or like new—clean, current, and in excellent condition. When a child receives something that looks and feels like it was chosen just for them, it brings comfort, dignity, and the reminder that they are worth it. Please keep this in mind for any donation drive of a gently used item.
